Steppe Horses Festival (Taliin Tumen Aduu)

Location: Batnorov village in Khentii province

Horses play a large role in the daily and national life of Mongolians. The festival aims to safeguard nomadic tradition of horse herding and promoting the talent and capabilities of herders.

As well an effort to pass down the horse culture to future generations and boost winter tourism. Horse herders from every corner of Mongolia arrive on the steppe in the eastern Mongolia for the festival along with few thousands horses.

Activities include horse race, horse-lassoing competition, taiga dog racing, presentation of horse breed, child jockey parade, expo of Khentii brand products, folklore music, dances and horse photography exhibitions and an event to select the best mare of Khentii aimag.

It is a sight to remember seeing thousands of horses galloping, locals dressed all in colourful, beautiful national costumes sitting on elegantly equipped horses and surrounding winter steppe landscapes.
