Gobi Desert Ultra marathon

Seven days’ march covering 250 km through Central Mongolia running through grassland, plains, sand dunes, rock valleys, cross streams tackling different terrain. The race passes UNESCO listed Orkhon valley. There are also a variety of historic sites and ruins, including sites and places, monasteries and temples and other monuments which are outstanding in universal value within this cultural landscape. These include important Khar Bukh Balgas Fortress where race starts and ends in Karakorum city of Mongol Empire which was the largest empire in world history. Erdene Zuu, the earliest surviving Mongolian Buddhist monastery and are evidences of the widespread religious meditative traditions and customs. A number of other sites were also preserved.
