Winter Festival of Altai Nomads

Date: 20-21 February (first weekend of third week of February)

Location: Bayan- Olgii

The festival is organized to promote winter tourism highlighting culture and custom of Altai population specifically Kazakh population. If you plan to visit Mongolia in winter time and see more festival which take place beginning March, it is good idea to begin with Winter festival of Altai Nomads. Two-day event includes many interesting activities related to eagle hunting “Kiz Kuar” century old woman chasing game, “Tinge Lu” the competition where horse riders snatch coins from ground and the highly entertaining traditional game “Kokbar”- goatskin tug war on horseback.
